Leah Scurto

Leah Scurto, owner and operator of PizzaLeah in Windsor, California, has been making pizza for 26 years. She is a four-time National Champion pizza maker and a nine-year member of the United States Pizza Team competing in pizza culinary competitions across the U.S. and the world.

Leah grew up around Sausalito and attended college at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She began her pizza career at the Pizza My Heart chain and rose to executive chef.

She earned celebrity status in 2012 when her Pizza My Heart team stunned the pizza world by winning the trophy for Best Traditional Pizza at the International Pizza Challenge in Las Vegas marking the first time Americans had captured the title from Italians.

Since opening in March 2020, her restaurant PizzaLeah has been included multiple times on the San Francisco Chronicle’s list of the 25 Top Restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2022 Leah was featured on Hulu’s original show, “Best In Dough,” and earned first place at the 2022 Real California Cheese Pizza Contest.

Leah judges pizza and beer competitions around the U.S. She teaches pizza-making classes and works as a restaurant/pizza consultant. “I’ve learned so much at competitions,” she said. “Everybody gives out tips and pointers. People who make pizza are so different from the rest of the restaurant industry in that regard. They are willing to share. Everybody wants you to succeed.” Leah extends this same generosity to her students.
