Adult Cake Decorating:Intro to Buttercream & Fondant

If you love to bake but have yet to fully dive into the world of cake decorating, this class is for you!

It would take a life time to cover everything there is to learn about decorating cakes, but nothing is more important than a good foundation in technique and style. This class will begin by discussing instructor Laci Sandoval’s signature method for constructing stacked cakes.  Then we will move on to the essentials of crumb coating and each student will have the chance to crumb coat their own 6inch cake. While the cakes chill, Chef Sandoval will demonstrate a variety of techniques in both buttercream and fondant.  We will test out these new skills and ideas on dummy cakes before taking a moment to sketch out a plan for the final 6inch real cake.  Students will have the remainder of the day to decorate their cakes to their own style and aesthetic before coming together to photograph their work and discuss.

A light lunch will be served with snacks and drinks available all day.

No previous baking experience is required.  Each student will leave with their completed 6inch cake made with organic, local ingredients where possible.
